It’s Okay to Get off Track

How I got off track

I have been continuously exercising since before I joined the military in 1999. In the past 17 years, do you know how many times I have gotten off track? Too many times to count! I can tell you for sure that I have been off track twice since May of 2015. It happens. It happens to you; it happens to me. Does getting off track mean you completely stop and never start again? Absolutely not! The reason May 2015 sticks out in my mind is because that is when I quit working away from home, and when I began exercising regularly again. When you work full-time, have two toddlers, and a disabled veteran spouse, it’s hard to find ‘me’ time. When I quit working outside of the home, I gained about 10 hours a day at home. I had so much more time for my family and myself. At some point during the summer, I decided to become a beachbody coach. Becoming a coach was a natural and easy decision for me because I have always been into fitness and eating healthy. I also had at least three exercise programs from beachbody that I had been using for years. So why not help myself and others at the same time.

The first time I got off track was in January of 2016. I had begun doing the Master’s Hammer & Chisel. I was about 2 weeks into the program when we went off on vacation. We went down to Orlando for a 3-week vacation to sight-see and spend time with family. I was able to exercise on two occasions. Not great considering there were 19 days I did not exercise. As soon as we returned home, I started the Master’s Hammer & Chisel all over again from the very beginning. This time around, I was able to do the program for about a month, which is only half of the entire program.

How I got back on track

The second time I got off track was in March 2016. We had some personal decisions to make and we ended up moving down to Georgia to be near family. Because of where we were staying (with family and in hotels), I was unable to exercise or continue my workout program. Not only were those issues in my being off track, but all of our belongings are still currently in storage, including all of my exercise equipment and my workout program DVDs. I did however, begin exercising this past Monday. My mother-in-law has an outdoor elliptical rider, an indoor elliptical machine, and of course I am able to do old-fashioned walking and running outside. Every single day since Monday I have been exercising and watching what I eat better than I have been this past month.

Shakeology

One thing I did not forget to pack was my shakeology and coconut water. Even though I haven’t been exercising the way I should, I have been drinking my shakeology every single day. I am getting all the nutrients my body needs and keeping myself healthy from the inside. I found out my mother-in-law has a ninja blender, so today was my first day drinking my shakeology smoothie! As you see, even if you get off track, you are able to jump right back on it! There is no harm in taking a break every once in awhile as well. Everyone needs to rest and take breaks. It only becomes a problem if you never get back on track. See you on the other side 😉
